Holes is a 2003 film based on the novel of the same name by Louis Sachar, who also wrote the screenplay, with Shia LaBeouf as the lead role of Stanley Yelnats. The film was produced by Walden Media and released by Walt Disney Pictures. At the beginning of the story, Stanley Yelnats IV (LaBeouf), a timid boy supposedly affected by a family curse, has been wrongly accused of stealing baseball player Clyde Livingston shoes from a charity auction, and sentenced for eighteen months in Camp Green Lake, a juvenile detention and correction facility where boys of similar age are forced to dig holes everyday to "build their character."
