Trapped is a 2002 American-German crime thriller film starring Charlize Theron, Stuart Townsend, Kevin Bacon, Courtney Love, Dakota Fanning, and Pruitt Taylor Vince, and is directed by Luis Mandoki. It was released on September 20, 2002. The film is based on Greg Iles's bestselling novel, 24 Hours. Kevin Bacon's character, Joe Hickey, is a man who is apparently in the business of kidnapping rich people's children for ransom with his wife Cheryl (Courtney Love) and cousin Marvin as his accomplices. A typically happy family whose father/husband, Will Jennings (Stuart Townsend), is a research physician who has just had his big career break by patenting a new anesthetic drug.
