Incredibly acted and directed. Both about PTSD and about the insidious power of cults.
Dónal Kennedy over 2 years ago
Shot like a colourised 50s photo. Beautiful, profound, uncomfortable.
Michael Cole over 3 years ago
Started to lose interest about 3/4 of the way through
Lachie Munro almost 4 years ago
Layered and a bit complicated... great performance from the actors though.

Convincing and dark. A cautionary tale about how the weak can be led astray. (maybe)
Tony Gandía over 4 years ago
Airish. Written for Oscar not for audiences; fails at both.
Lisa B over 4 years ago
Disappointing from PTA.
John Barton 5 years ago
Beautifully shot, well paced, but story didn't really go anywhere.
Liam Christopher McNeal 5 years ago
It's hard to interpret PTA's intention here, but its fun to witness the mastery of film.

Joaquin and PSH share good chemistry, and it looks great, but the plot remains thin.
Luiz Antônio Cubas Junior over 5 years ago
Truly deep. A masterpiece that everybody needs to see.

Although I was hesitant at first, I've come to realize this is my favorite film of 2012.
Daniel Fleming almost 6 years ago
The performances were amazing, but the plot felt a bit aimless and purposely incohesive.

Top notch acting from Joaquin Phoenix. A case study on PTSD in post WWII U.S.A.
Nuria Belastegui 6 years ago
Excellent performances all round.
Professional Moron over 6 years ago
It certainly has amazing performances, but it can be a bit aimless.
Daniel Jones over 6 years ago
Just a beautifully shot film from start to finish. I dug it, but know many won't.
