Salvation Boulevard is a 2011 comedy-drama film with religious undertones. It is based on the novel of the same name by Larry Beinhart. Using exaggerated spiritualism, Pastor Dan Day (Brosnan) makes his church a business empire by taking advantage of the people who believe in him, until church-goer Carl (Kinnear) wises up, and Day has to silence a potential threat. Filming took place in Michigan, particularly Ann Arbor and Dearborn in April and June of 2010. Salvation Boulevard premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January of 2011, and was released theatrically by IFC Films on July 15, 2011 in the United States.
