May Roundup

Wow, what an exciting month May was. Heaps of new users and plenty of activity on the site, and a lot of new features to talk about. Here’s a bit of a summary:

Netflix integration

You can connect your Netflix account to Goodfilms now:

Connect to Netflix

Now, your Goodfilms and Netflix queues will stay in sync (for films available on Netflix Instant). There’s also:

We hope that helps you get more out of your Netflix subscription each month. It certainly has done for us!

Mobile site

We’ve been working hard on a mobile-accessible version of the site, so you can rate a film as soon as you walk out of a cinema, or access your queue from the couch or in the video store. It’s been really fun to experiment with different designs that work on a touchscreen. Here’s a sneak preview:

Expect more on this in the coming weeks.

A great review on AppStorm

We were lucky enough to get featured on Web.Appstorm that goes into an impressive amount of detail about our rating system and how the site works, and we’re extremely humbled by the 10/10 score we were given.

We were also interviewed by the Appstorm guys a little earlier, so if you’d like to read about how two guys from Melbourne, Australia are trying to change the way films are rated and shared, you can read the full interview here.

International users

Buoyed by coverage by wwhat’s new, Tecno Bita and CafĂ© Colao in Spain and Lifehacker Japan last month, we’ve seen a huge influx in non-English-speaking users.

It’s been great to see so many users from around the world, and it’s made us realise how important it is to translate Goodfilms into different languages. We’re also planning to support localised movie posters and titles. Unfortunately we can’t promise that this will be live soon, but we want everyone to know we’re working on it!

That’s it for the wrap-up this month. Expect many new exciting things in the months to come. And, of course, if you haven’t already, sign up for Goodfilms now:
